VFAF’s Lucretia Hughes Participates in Women for Gun Rights National Summit in Washington D.C.
WASHINGTON, D.C. — September 16, 2026 — Lucretia Hughes Klucken, Deputy National Communications Director for Veterans for America First (VFAF), participated in the Women for Gun Rights 2026 National Summit in Washington, D.C., September 12–14, joining advocates from across the country for three days of training, Second Amendment policy discussions, a Capitol rally and meetings with government officials.
Women for Gun Rights describes itself as a nationwide, nonpartisan organization of women focused on safeguarding the Second Amendment through education and advocacy. Its 2026 National Summit was the first time the organization opened its annual Washington gathering to all members.
The summit began with a September 12 gala at the Hilton Washington DC Capitol Hill. Programming on September 13 included leadership training, Civics 101, Second Amendment history and constitutional issues, and preparation for meetings with lawmakers and congressional staff. Participants later gathered on the west side of the U.S. Capitol for the organization’s public Rally for the 2A.
Hughes was among the scheduled speakers for the Capitol rally. Reporting ahead of the summit identified her as a longtime Women for Gun Rights advocate and noted that she was scheduled to address attendees during the September 13 rally.
On September 14, the summit moved into its Capitol Hill advocacy program. Women for Gun Rights described the day as an opportunity for participants to engage directly with the federal policymaking process; the summit program also included a limited-attendance White House briefing.
During her time in Washington, Hughes met with White House official Sebastian Gorka, U.S. Senator Marsha Blackburn and U.S. Congressman Andrew Clyde, discussing Second Amendment and gun-rights issues. These meetings were part of Hughes' participation in the Washington advocacy activities.
Hughes has a longstanding public record of involvement in Second Amendment advocacy. In June 2022, she testified before the U.S. House Committee on Oversight and Reform on behalf of the organization then known as the DC Project/Women for Gun Rights. The official congressional transcript documents her testimony before the committee.
Congressman Clyde also has a documented record on Second Amendment legislation and litigation. Earlier this month, Clyde announced that he had filed an amicus brief with more than 60 House Republicans in a Supreme Court case concerning restrictions on semiautomatic rifles.
For Hughes, the Washington summit provided an opportunity to participate in Women for Gun Rights programming while representing her own longstanding advocacy on firearms policy and constitutional rights.
Women for Gun Rights states that its national mission centers on education, preservation of firearms culture and advocacy, with an emphasis on women participating directly in discussions with legislators and their communities.
